Agama Lizard

September

Species shown: Agama / red-headed rock agama / rainbow agama (agama agama)

This is a common reptile in a large number of countries in Africa, and has a drab brown colour during the early part of the dry season. Just before the rainy season begins females develop a bright orange patch where each limb meets the body and males are completely transformed with bright yellow heads, vivid blue bodies and a black tip to their tails (Barnett and Emms 2005).

The photo was taken at the end of April in Banjul, Gambia with Canon R5 and Canon 100-500mm with 1.4x extender at 700mm f/14 1/320s ISO5000
