Species shown: Wolf / Gray wolf / Grey wolf (Canis lupus)
Wolves occur across Europe, Asia and North America. Wolves are monogamous, mated pairs usually remaining together for life. The wolf’s basic social unit is the nuclear family consisting of a mated pair accompanied by their offspring. The gestation period lasts 62–75 days with pups usually being born in the spring months. Wolves have very dense and fluffy fur in winter, and can reduce the flow of blood near their skin to conserve body heat.
